Istanbul Airport Istanbul, Turkey

The scale, speed, and complexity of this mega-project was enormous – with our team installing 328 elevators, 166 escalators, and 167 moving walks in just two years

The new Istanbul Airport, which covers an area of 76.5 million square meters – equivalent to 11,000 football pitches, was officially inaugurated in 2018 and fully functional by mid-2019. Once the final phase of the airport is completed in 2025, it’s estimated that the airport will be able to handle up to 200 million passengers annually – making it the biggest airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic.

Our team of 270 Schindler colleagues installed a total of 661 Schindler units in just two years – which currently help, move an estimated 250,000 travelers through the airport each day. And to make sure things keep moving smoothly, we have an on-site service team available around the clock.
