Product sustainability
Quality and innovation guide our investments to improve the environmental performance of our products.
In 2021, we launched Schindler PORT 4D, our latest building transit management solution optimizing travel time in buildings while making buildings more user-friendly, flexible, and sustainable.
The longest phase in the life-cycle of an elevator is the usage phase, which can last 30 years or more, so improving the energy efficiency was a key target for these new products. Now, by keeping sustainability in mind throughout the development, these elevators reach the highest energy efficiency rating, class A, according to ISO 25745*. This enables us to reduce the environmental impact of our elevators and the buildings in which they operate for years to come.
To provide insights into the ecological performance of our elevators from manufacturing through end-of-life, we provide independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), under ISO 14025. This is an important step in ensuring the top environmental performance of our products and to show our commitment to sustainable solutions.
You can find the EPDs for our products directly in the Environdec library via the links below.
*Energy consumption of individual installations is influenced by the configuration, frequency of use, travel speed, and height of the building, among other variables.
