Interview with the 2017 Schindler Global Award winners
For the winners of the 2017 Schindler Award cities are long living organisms. Read how this mindset helped them develop their winning urban development submission for the competition in São Paolo.
“The most valuable lessons were about teamwork and communication”
Eduardo Gananca,LuizGrecco, Jessica Luchesi won the 2017 Schindler Global Award with their project “Palimpsest”. The three were students at the Architecture and Urbanism College, University of São Paulo, commonly known as FAU. Their design had a focus on looking at the many layers of the city, to arrive at a reasonable yet ambitious design for the CEAGESP site in the center of São Paulo.
They spoke to journalist Jessica Bridger about the 2017 competition, and offered some advice and insight for other students participating – or considering participation – in the 2018/2019 Schindler Global Award.
On the Schindler Global Award
The Schindler Global Award is a competition for students of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning, where they are asked to submit outstanding concepts for new urban forms related to mobility, in response to global urban change. A jury of internationally renowned professionals in urban design and architecture will assess the competition entries.
The students of today will be responsible for shaping the cities of tomorrow. Building on more than 10 successful years in Europe, the Schindler Award has been expanded in 2014 to accept entries from around the world. The next edition will be held in 2018/2019 with entries due in January 2019.
