Schindler MetaCore

How we live, work, and spend our leisure time is changing. Buildings are now expected to adapt and have the flexibility to accommodate these evolving needs. Schindler MetaCore enables buildings to be repurposed and their functionality to be reconfigured endlessly – significantly extending their lifespan. Schindler MetaCore creates flexible buildings by enabling one elevator group to deliver an easily adaptable, enhanced passenger experience for multiple building applications – delivering the flexibility required to make lifetime sustainability a reality.

Key features & benefits

With Schindler MetaCore, you breathe life back into empty or underutilized spaces, delivering tangible benefits for building owners, developers, urban populations, and the planet, including:

Massive resource savings

Reduce time, cost, and carbon emissions by avoiding demolition and reconstruction.

Total flexibility

Update configurations and applications (e.g. residential, office, or hospitality) as needed, in real time, and at close to zero cost.

Tailor-made transport experience

The in-car environment shifts seamlessly between passenger groups.

100% planning security

A retrofit can be daunting. Our Schindler Traffic Vision software simulates how repurposed buildings will perform in real life.

Extend building lifespan

A flexible building evolves with requirements, staying useful for longer, achieving lifetime sustainability.

Future-proof buildings

Incorporating the Schindler MetaCore flexibility into architectural planning means buildings can be designed for current and future applications.

How it works

By implementing Schindler MetaCore, the applications for which a building’s space is used can be changed and replaced like books on a bookshelf:

  • With Schindler MetaCore, you only need to build once. The system enables one elevator group to serve multiple applications – such as residential, office, or hospitality – while delivering a bespoke transport experience for each passenger group, allowing total flexibility to change to different applications in short amounts of time. Crucially, Schindler MetaCore makes changing the mix and range of building applications achievable in real time (and without needing large investments for the turnaround).
  • The elevator system and lobby can be swiftly adjusted to accommodate new / different applications and passenger groups.
  • Enabled by the Schindler PORT 4D product offering, Schindler MetaCore elevates the experience of your building to the next level of comfort and customization. The Schindler myPORT app detects users and sends the appropriate / most efficient elevator cabin to the corresponding building lobby.

Refurbish with Schindler MetaCore

Repurposing of office buildings into multi-purpose spaces is a growing trend in a lot of big cities. It revitalizes underutilized structures and meets diverse community needs, fostering a more dynamic urban environment. With Schindler MetaCore the core of the building, the elevator shafts, do not need to be changed and can be programmed to serve to any new added building purpose – a new office floor, a kindergarten, fresh set of apartments or even a hotel!
