Schindler wurde mit der Lieferung und Installation von 180 Fahrtreppen für zwei neue Strecken des Phase 2 Projekts der Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. beauftragt. Hierbei wird das U-Bahn-Netz in das bereits existierende städtische Nahverkehrssystem integriert und später den IT-Industriepark der Stadt mit dem Bangalore International Airport verbinden.
Bangalore, die drittgrösste Stadt Indiens, ist als globales Technologiezentrum bekannt. Das Phase 2 Projekt soll bis 2026 abgeschlossen sein, den IT-Distrikt an den öffentlichen Nahverkehr anbinden und so das Strassennetz entlasten. Die Umsetzung wurde in verschiedene Hoch- und U-Bahn-Abschnitte unterteilt.
Schindler wird 140 Fahrtreppen für die neue Yellow Line, die Bangalore mit der Electronic City – einem der grössten IT-Industrieparks Indiens – verbindet, liefern und installieren. Hinzukommen weitere 40 Fahrtreppen für die Pink Line, die neue Nord-Süd-Strecke durch die Stadt. Über die neuen Bahnhöfe können zusätzlich 370 000 Passagiere pro Tag befördert werden.

"Ein leistungsstarkes U-Bahn-Netz für Bangalore mit aufzubauen ist eine grossartige Aufgabe."
